Hovermarks is scan-first compliance software for the assets you maintain. UK statutory report formats for LOLER, PUWER and PSSR, configurable checklists for fire, lifting, electrical and workplace safety including OSHA, NFPA and ANSI, and tamper-evident PDF reports auditors and insurers can verify on a public URL. Built by BrainBoxIT Ltd in Portsmouth, UK, since 2018.
Where we came from
Hovermarks started life as TagIt, built around one idea: that a QR code stuck on an asset, plus a checklist that loaded automatically when you scanned it, was enough to replace a clipboard. The scope grew beyond tagging: work orders, costing, audit-ready PDF reports, white-label landlord portals, Azure OpenAI-assisted asset description suggestions, and natural-language search.
The name “TagIt” described the first thing we did. It stopped describing the product some time ago.
Why “Hovermarks”
A mark is the proof: the signed report, the QR code on the asset, the green tick in the dashboard. The thing you point at when an auditor asks. Hoveris how you reach it. Fast, weightless, from anywhere. It's also a quiet nod to how modern multi-site operations actually work: not tied to a desk, not tied to a clipboard.
Hovermarksis the rebrand of an existing, paying-customer-supported product. Nothing about the data, the contracts, or the team changed. Logins, URLs, and APIs continue to work. What's new is the ambition to be the default way regulated, multi-site teams prove compliance.
One name, one company, one product: Hovermarks is the asset-inspection compliance platform operated by BrainBoxIT Limited (UK company number 11703272), online at hovermarks.co.uk and hovermarks.com. We are independent and not affiliated with any other software company whose name contains “hover” or “marks”. What we build
Hovermarks is a single product: Inspection. One scan-first model, one audit trail, one source of truth across every regulated workflow.
- LOLER & lifting equipment. Six-monthly thorough exams, Cat A/B defect workflow, examiner credentials captured per record, auto work orders from failed inspections.
- Fire safety. BS 5306 fire-extinguisher, BS 5839 alarms, Article 23 record-keeping, FRA templates, insurer-ready evidence packs.
- Facilities & manufacturing. Per-asset service history, conditional checklists, multi-site rollups, customer verification portal, append-only audit log.
- OSHA / NFPA / ANSI (US). 1910.179 crane, B30 rigging, 1910.178 forklift, NFPA 25 sprinkler: same app, region-aware templates.
The company behind Hovermarks
Hovermarks is built and operated by BrainBoxIT Limited, a UK information-technology consultancy registered in England and Wales (company number 11703272) with its registered office at 6 Range Green, Portsmouth, PO2 8RE. BrainBoxIT has been incorporated since 2018, and Hovermarks is its principal product. When you sign a contract, invoice, or DPA, you sign it with BrainBoxIT Limited trading as Hovermarks.

Built around the inspector
Every feature gets stress-tested against “does it make a Tuesday-afternoon inspection faster?” If the answer is no, it doesn't ship.
Audit-defensible by default
Tamper-evident hash-chained log, public verification URL on every report, no “enterprise add-on” gate. The proof layer is the product.
Multi-tenant from line zero
Hard isolation is the architecture, not a security policy you write later. One customer's data is never visible to another. Enforced at the database layer.
